What a clean can and cannot do for old concrete
Concrete wears from the top down. After forty-plus rainy seasons, the smooth cement paste on a Margate drive has partly worn away, the aggregate shows, and the surface is open and rough. That open surface is why the black comes back fast after a plain rinse. Cracks from decades of settling usually run across it too.
A proper clean makes it even and clean. It cannot put back the surface that has worn off, fill cracks, or make exposed aggregate smooth. Old oil may leave a shadow. Michael tells you all of that before starting, so the result matches what you were told. What it does reliably is take the black off, lift most of the rust and oil, and leave a drive that looks cared for from the street.
