Barrel tile under Old Floresta's oaks
Old Floresta's mature oaks are why people love it and why its roofs streak. Shade keeps the tile damp, leaves and acorns collect in the valleys and the curves of the barrel tile, and Gloeocapsa and lichen settle where the water sits.
Valleys and channels are cleared first, then the solution goes on from the eaves up with no pressure and is left to work. Heavy lichen gets a second application planned in the quote. Older barrel tile is brittle, so it is walked only on the laps and near the ridges, and worked from the ladder elsewhere. Plants under the drip line are soaked before and rinsed after. If Michael sees cracked, slipped or missing tile, he points it out before quoting, because a historic roof deserves a roofer's eye before a cleaner's.
